Anxiety is one of most prevalent mental health disorders, with 1 out of 14 people around the world being likely affected. Despite the fact that many people need treatment for conditions like depression, suicide risk, disability, and high-quality health care, few actually get it. Olivia Remes, University of Cambridge, will present her views on anxiety in her talk “How do you cope with it?”. She will also discuss ways to manage and treat this disorder. She will argue that medication and psychotherapy can lead to poor outcomes and high rates for relapses. Instead, she will emphasize the importance of finding strength within ourselves and modifying our problem-coping strategies. Olivia will emphasize that if we allow ourselves to believe that life is complete, meaningful, and manageable, it can dramatically reduce our risk of developing anxiety disorders.
