To diagnose ADHD, a doctor will compare the child’s behavior to that of other children of the same age. In addition, the physician will take the child’s caregiver’s observations into consideration. The doctor will also use guidelines to confirm a diagnosis. The child must show signs in two or more settings that interfere with daily living.
